Week 3 My YouTube Growth Journey to Monetization
Week 3 My YouTube Growth Journey to Monetization Week 3 of working toward my goal of getting my small new YouTube Channel monetized as an over 40 year old Mom (30th September - 6th October 2024) - My YouTube Channel Growth Review Video's and Account Stats. It has been another week of steady growth (which is great), utilising Chat GPT prompts for help with SEO optimisation and sticking to my target of 2 vids, a growth vid plus 7 daily shorts. But something came up that was totally not expected for me on my YouTubing journey. Let's dig in for more...
It's been another week since my last growth review Week 2 (23rd September - 29th September) where I ended the week with 99 Subs and 114.8 WTHours
Also See week 1 My First growth review Week 1 ( 14th September - 21st September Where things were going UP + that made me happy). 33 Subs | 35 WTHours
This is my Week 3 growth review on growing a brand new small YouTube channel from ZERO to MONETIZED Status. We earn all of our family income online, in various ways, some passive income, some working income. Which allows us to be free and travel the world with our kids. The next form of income that I am looking to start earning from is YouTube. Starting a YouTube channel is one of the many ways to make money online (and serious amounts of money too!). To become monetized, means joining the YouTube Partner Program, which requires my channel to have 1000 subscribers and 4000 Watch Time Hours before becoming eligible to apply.
I'm on that journey now of start + grow my new YouTube channel to get that monetized to show others whats working for me & what's not. Just 3 weeks in - And I document that YouTube channel growth here so that other Mum's can do the same, no matter how shy you may feel! This is all about personal development + personal growth as well as channel growth... and income growth. If I can do this YOU can do this.

Analytics and Growth in Week 3:
30th September - 6th October
During this week:
I posted 10 shorts (hit my target 7 daily)
I posted 3 niche topic videos (hit my target 2 daily)
I posted 1 weekly YouTube growth review video - this was week 2's video go see it here if you haven't already.
So you can see I committed and I stuck to it.
Overall on the week I had 5.7k views | 183 watch time hours | + 72 new subscribers
I end week 3 on 173 subscribers | 329 watch time hours
Most of these stats and increases in subscribers are still coming from 1 video that is performing well. My very first video - see blog post about that video here. Which just goes to show you really can start, knowing nothing and doing your best. Sometimes your best is good enough. This has slowed down now and it's just 1 or 2 subscribers each day. And so I'm on the lookout for ideas and new videos that could be my next top video performer.
Week 3 hasn't been a big one in terms of learning and applying new learning. I've stopped with my VidIQ learning and so I need to get back into the 5 minute daily lessons. So easy to do and so why have I fallen off track with this. Lesson learned - let's jump back in!
But week 3 has been a week where I'm applying everything that I've learnt, and that's good ! I'm continuing to commit and show up as I enter a new week - week 4 - one of the reasons why 94% of YouTube channels never get to their monetisation goal. Just doing this one thing (although this is the hardest thing I've come across), will get you in the top 6% (in time). And I really do think commitment is everything with YouTube growth.
The excitement and nerves are fading and as I go into week 4 I realise that this thing really is a marathon that I have to turn up every day for. The emotional side is dawning on me on just how gruelling this can be on our minds.
I had a day where I didn't get any subscribers and it really sucked. It made me feel quite down, so this week I've been looking at removing myself from being so emotionally invested in growing the channel. When we have a dream or a goal that I want to achieve so badly, but understanding how Social media can really suck you in. And impact our mental health. I guess my take home message for week 3 on my journey is to look after your mental health when growing a YouTube channel. I'm working on a few video ideas around this topic since my background is in Psychology (I have a degree in P + Neuroscience), but I'm here for the healing of trauma in natural ways (having tried to heal through prescription drugs and nature and I know where the answers lie), helping others to heal their own emotional trauma through going within and working with vibration, frequency and energy (for we are all energy vibrating at a frequency. Changed the frequency, change the physical manifestation - it's that simple + that difficult at the same time) aura cleansing and sound energy work and I have a long history with depression which I can not ever go back to. And this YouTube marathon is a mindset thing.
To combat this, I gave myself a once a day stats check where I checked in on my channel JUST ONCE in the morning to check subs and WTH. And no more. I was starting to go on my phone every few minutes to check my stats, which is not cool. It's not setting a good example to the kids (who are also starting their own YouTube channels right now). So I have a moral responsibility, not just to protect myself. This makes it easier I think, because i'm so good at looking after others, never that great on applying all my worldly knowledge to myself.
Secondly, I took time out to go for a massage at my local spa. This was time away from the kids, time away from everything to go into myself and remember who I was. The noise of the world can layer on top of your divine magic. It's very important for me to remember that. Because that's where the magic happens. This YouTube channel will grow itself if my analytical mind backs off and my heart leads it. This I know - after manifesting a dream life through letting go. Purely trusting the plan and backing off from directing it in any way and truly knowing that something will happen. Like I do with the channel - I KNOW THAT IT WILL GROW TO MONETIZED. I feel this. I can feel what it's like. And so it already is. This is how Quantum Jumping works when manifesting (which is something I teach). I just need to show up, commit, do the work and enjoy the process. I highly recommend starting a self care routine to ensure that you stay healthy and well. If this thing really is a marathon, your health matters. I always find it so amusing that I know so much when it comes to trusting our intuition and the law of assumption when it comes to manifesting, but my naughty brain somehow creeps back in to try and take me off track. This is something many coaches deal with. Which makes you feel like a rubbish coach - but it's so easy to help others, why is it so difficult to apply to ourselves. This is one of the reasons why documenting your YouTube growth journey is so important - it keeps you looking at yourself objectively - avoiding getting swallowed up in the moment. You can see things clearly for what they are. One of the reasons why I started this and I think everybody should too!
Thirdly, protect your energy. Believe it or not, not everybody wants you to win. And this doesn't matter because ultimately, people online are not really in your life. But from an energetic standpoint, their energy can affect you if you don't understand how energy works and you then unintentionally let it. Vibrationally speaking. So if you know this, then just knowing this means that you can stop any negativity from ever reaching you. It's as essential for me as brushing my teeth in a morning. Protecting your energy is so important with starting and growing your YouTube channel - even more so if you are an empath that feels EVERYTHING or a Lightworker.
Fourth, in the art of self love, I made this cup of self love for myself and the kids (because I've been so pre-occupied with growing) that I forgot why I'm doing it in the first place. My Why. If you're interested: I'm doing this so I can continue to support my new way of living (because I love it and don't ever want it to stop). I'm doing it so my kids can see the best version of their mum. A mum that shows up for herself. And so I took a step back and took time to care, nurture and hug with a milky moon milk. I'm not saying the moon milk solved everything. It gave me the time to step back and realise a few things, that have now made me stronger to go into week 4. I highly recommend.
Fifth: MEDITATE. Something that always slips for me when I'm busy, distracted, focused on something else. But meditation is / was always the answer. WE don't do it enough in the West. We are not taught how absolutely essential it is to life in our western schools. Then even when we KNOW the stuff, it's so easy to fall off the wagon (me!). When I met with a shaman in Bali, he held my hands and said that I need to meditate. I KNEW THIS. But what was my take home here was that I didn't need 'healing' from him, ' curing' by him, 'making better' of given a psychedelic plant - I just needed to go home and meditate - the answers are always in you. And the key to those answers is through meditation. So this is my gentle reminder to myself to meditate daily. And if you fall off the waggon, like me, when you're focused on growing something, this How to Meditation For Beginners post may help you as it does me.
And so that's week 3 in my over 40 YouTube channel. I wasn't intending on focusing on mental health and wellness, but that's where week 3 took me. Or took me away from - and I want to share my experience in case any one else gets 'lock on' with their goal of growing their own YouTube Channel OR gets 'down' because it feels as though their channel isn't growing. Trust me, if you are showing up - you are growing! If you are committing - the channel IS growing. Let's get back to enjoying our growth next week equipped with some insights that week 3 brought, because this can only make us stronger.
I'll be making sure every video in week 4 continues to have all the things learnt in weeks 1 -3:
A pre-designed Thumbnail (designed in Canva) that is straight to the point, designed for mobile and creates curiosity.
A well planned out Title (using Chat GPT and tweaking to my style) that does not repeat what the thumbnail says but adds more content to the thumbnail.
A well written description with at least 3 priority hashtags but 15 can be used.
I will Add the video to a playlist where possible to increase view time for relevant content.
I will add subtitles to every video as this helps accessibility and people who like to watch silently.
Plus add things I learnt this week
The channel at the end of week 3 is at 10% of reaching monetization. This is no longer the 'long way off' the 1k subs and 4k watch time hours that it needs to become monetized. Which I have to take a moment here, is AMAZING! It's now well on the way to achieving what it set out to do and I'm very happy with that. I personally am starting enjoy doing the video's now. I feel like I'm getting a connection to me subscribers and I love their comments. I love that people are feeling inspired to start their own. I love that they're reaching out to tell me that. I also want to give back and share my experiences so they don't burn out, mental health fatigue so we can win together going forward! If you have been inspired to start your own YouTube channel as an over 40 mum or dad, do let me know in the commets. I love to hear it. Or maybe you've had your channel for a while and are starting it back up armed with the new knowledge to do it. Again drop me a comment. I am on your team! (especially on the videos ha ha as the YouTube Algo LOVES that!)
More of the same commitment and focus from me next week, but with a nod to feeling, wellness and looking after myself - then in the blink of an eye it will be time for the weekly Growth Review for Week 4.
