Week 2 - My YouTube Channel Growth Review Video +66 Subs | +114.8 WTH's
Week 2 - My YouTube Channel Growth Review Video and Account Stats (23rd September - 29th September 2024). I Started week 2 with 33 Subscribers | 30.2 WTH | I'm not concentrating on views only the monetization counters of Subs + WTH's). Read on to see how I increased my subscribers and watch time hours in week 2 and what I think helped with this growth.
It's been another week since my last weekly growth review Week 1 ( 16th September - 22nd September 2024 Where things were going UP + that made me happy).
This is my Week 2 growth review on growing a brand new small YouTube channel from ZERO to MONETIZED Status. Starting a YouTube channel being one of the many ways to make money online (and serious amounts of money too!). I'm on a journey to start + grow my new YouTube channel to get that monetized to show others whats working for me & what's not. And I document that YouTube channel growth here so that other Mum's can do the same, no matter how shy you may feel! This is all about personal development + personal growth as well as channel growth... and income growth. If I can do this YOU can do this.

Analytics and Growth in Week 2:
23rd September - 29th September 2024
During this week 2:
I posted 8 shorts (hit my target 7 daily)
I posted 5 videos (hit my target 2 daily)
I posted 1 weekly YouTube growth review video - this was week 1's video
Overall on the week I had 6.3k views | 114.8 watch time hours | + 66 new subscribers!! (I'm blown away by this number tbh for week 2)
I end week 2 on 99 subscribers to begin week 3
Week 2 was a really good week. Posting more regularly seemed to be rewarded by YouTube, but honestly I don't know how achievable posting 5 videos per week would be so I will be sticking to my goal of at least 2 videos as this is something that I can stick to. I needed to just get some Ibiza based videos up for a client I'm working with on the blog (so these were not my niche subject and a bit off topic). And on the weeks where I can upload more videos on my niche subjects - I will - as the increase seemed to be liked by YouTube, but 5 vids per week is not possible for me with my schedule right now.
Most of these stats and increases in subscribers are coming from 1 video that is performing well. And would you believe that it's my first video - see blog post about that video here.
It was my first video that I uploaded when I started this Growth Journey and I'm glad that even thought I didn't really know what I was doing on the filming side and editing side, I really did my best with what knowledge I had. And when I made that video, I tried to create it based on what I thought the viewer would like to see. With a timelapse speeded up house tour first to get them in, then a walk round talk round, with lot's of personable elements - mainly me - nervously talking to camera as I was quite nervous. But people seem to take kindly - I guess we've all been nervous right so can relate? Sometimes not trying to act and just being truthful and honestly yourself is really the best policy. I'll aim to do more personable 'authentically me' video's rather than just scenic view style videos (that aren't doing well on my channel). Where I thought it would be the other way around - I thought people would LOVE to see a beautiful beach. But who would want to see me chatting away. But that's the point! People do want human connection and not a scenic film.
Also on this first video - I took some learning and education and applied it to that video before uploading it. Things like a well thought out title, a description, making sure it had a thumbnail (even though what I know now this is too busy and too wordy), making sure the video had at least 3 relevant hashtags in it's description, although if possible having up to 15, making sure any comments left were replied to swiftly,
It's important to note that this first video in it's first week after uploading did not have much traction at all with very minimal views. I did go back into that video a few times and add more detail to the description, I changed the title a few times after using Chat GPT to come up with some other more hook based suggestions. And after that the video really picked up pace.
I'll be making sure every video in week 3 has:
A pre-designed Thumbnail (designed in Canva) that is straight to the point, designed for mobile and creates curiosity.
A well planned out Title (using Chat GPT and tweaking to my style) that does not repeat what the thumbnail says but adds more content to the thumbnail.
A well written description with at least 3 priority hashtags but 15 can be used.
I will Add the video to a playlist where possible to increase view time for relevant content.
I will add subtitles to every video as this helps accessibility and people who like to watch silently.
Of course the channel is a long way off the 1k subs and 4k watch time hours that it needs to become monetized but everything is moving in the right direction as opposed to the wrong direction and I can work with that! In fact who am I kidding week 2 has been AMAAAAAZING. And this is only week 2! Week 2 see's my channel at 10% toward my target. I'm very happy with the progress of the channel. And am starting to feel not so nervous on camera (a personal goal) and I hope that's coming across a little.
More of the same commitment and focus from me next week then time for the weekly Growth Review for Week3.
