Find out why discoverable content is so important when growing a YouTube Channel. And what the correct weighting is for the different types of content videos when you have growth on your mind. The idea with Discoverable Content is to Get new audiences to watch more.

When creating your YouTube Strategy for Growth, you'll want a mix of the different types of content: Discoverable Content (to attract new visitors with the main goal of getting them to watch even more of your content). Community Content (to satisfy existing subscribers with the main goal of getting them to interact). And Sales based Content (with the goal of generating income from showcasing a product that you love around your niche of course).

Earning online with a YouTube channel is an amazing way to earn online, doing something you love. But in order to earn, you need to reach the levels set by The YouTube Partner Programme to be eligible to start earning. And that involves channel growth. You currently need 1000 subscribers and 4000 watch time hours to apply to The Partner Programme and having a good content strategy will help your channel grow. A good weighting for a growth strategy on a new and small YouTube channel would be 60% Discoverable, 20% Community and 20% or less of Sales content. And this is the strategy I'll be applying to my new channel as I continue to grow.

For the purpose of this post we'll look at discoverable content. The main proponent in a growth strategy. What it is? And why it's so good at growing a channel. And we also provide a list of discoverable topics to help inspire you on your own continued YouTube growth journey. I'm sharing everything that I'm applying to grow my channel, so you can do exactly the same!

It's week 6 of my own YouTube growth journey and I'm getting a strategy in place to ensure future growth for my new YouTube channel (hey, if you haven't already please give me a subscribe, it'll help my channel grow). I'm looking to monetize the channel as soon as I can to allow me to keep on posting videos for free and so I want to start looking at getting my own growth strategy in place to stop the YouTube content creator overwhelm, to get organised and to make sure the channel grows.

Unlocking Your YouTube Growth: The Power of Discoverable Content

As a new creator on YouTube, understanding the importance of discoverable content is crucial for your channel's growth. Discoverable content refers to videos that are designed to attract new viewers through search engine optimization (SEO) and engaging topics. In this post, we’ll delve into what discoverable content is, why it matters for your growth, and how you can effectively incorporate it into your YouTube strategy.

What is Discoverable Content?

Discoverable content is designed to be easily found by users searching for specific information, tips, or entertainment on YouTube. This type of content typically includes how-to guides, tutorials, listicles, product reviews, and trend analyses. By focusing on what potential viewers are actively searching for, you increase the chances of your videos appearing in search results and recommended feeds.

What is the Main Goal for doing Discoverable Content?

The main goal of discoverable content is to be discovered by a brand new audience. Hence why it forms the biggest portion of the content weighting. The aim is to get new people seeing the video and thus channel. The idea is that if we can draw these new people in with a video that they like, that they like you so much that they can't stop watching your stuff.

We first need to make sure our discoverable content has been SEO'd correctly so we are showing up in our new audiences feed. Next we want to encourage them to click through to our video (with that engaging title and thumbnail), We want to keep them interested with our killer hook and intro in the first 15 seconds that keeps them wanting more, and finally we want them to WATCH MORE.

My best tip for creating awesome discoverable content is to let your personality shine. Give tid bits of who you are throughout the vid, that keep the new visitor keen to learn more about you (tease your story) but whilst giving them absolute golden quality content for their search term (how they found you).

Our main Goal with discoverable content is: Getting them to watch another video. By adding a call to action to the video with links to playlists (if you have them for the topic) or if you liked this you'll love this vid. Watch more here kind of phrases.

In Short: Get new viewers. Keep them watching. With a call to action to watch more. Hopefully when they've watched more they just love you and your channel and you get that subscribe so they become part of your community and you can concentrate on Community Content for these people soon. They become part of your gang! Yeyyyy!

Why Discoverable Content is Essential for Growth

1. Increased Visibility

YouTube is the second-largest search engine in the world, and discoverable content leverages this to reach a wider audience. By optimizing your videos for search, you can appear in search results and suggested videos, making it easier for new viewers to find your channel.

2. Attracting Targeted Viewers

When you create content that answers specific questions or addresses particular interests, you're more likely to attract viewers who are genuinely interested in your niche. This targeted approach can lead to higher engagement rates and loyal subscribers.

3. Building Authority and Credibility

Producing high-quality, informative discoverable content establishes you as an authority in your niche. As viewers recognize your expertise, they are more likely to subscribe and return for more content, further boosting your channel's growth.

4. Enhancing Engagement Metrics

Discoverable videos often encourage viewers to interact through comments, likes, and shares. Higher engagement metrics signal to YouTube's algorithm that your content is valuable, which can lead to better placement in search results and recommendations.

Tips for Creating Discoverable Content

1. Keyword Research

Identify relevant keywords related to your niche using tools like Google Trends, YouTube's search bar, or keyword research tools. Incorporate these keywords into your video titles, descriptions, and tags to improve searchability.

2. Engaging Titles and Thumbnails

Create compelling titles that include your main keywords. Pair them with eye-catching thumbnails to attract clicks. A strong first impression can significantly impact your video's performance.

3. Optimize Video Descriptions

Use your video description to provide a summary of the content, including key points and relevant keywords. This helps YouTube understand what your video is about, improving its chances of being discovered.

4. Leverage Trending Topics

Keep an eye on trends within your niche and create content that taps into these conversations. Timely, relevant videos are more likely to attract attention and engagement.

5. Encourage Viewer Interaction

Prompt viewers to like, comment, and subscribe at the end of your videos. Engaging your audience can increase your video's visibility and improve your overall channel metrics.

6. Analyze Performance

Use YouTube Analytics to assess which of your discoverable content performs best. Look for trends in viewer behavior, such as watch time, engagement, and traffic sources, and adjust your strategy accordingly.

FLETCH - BE NOTHING LIKE

Hey you! My name is Fletch, a Northern girl from the UK, living with the love of my life (aka Mr Be Nothing Like) and our 2 children, Lilly + Bertie Boo. We're about to embark on some big life moves, selling our things to move to the other side of the world, Bali, Indonesia to live a high vibe life of our dreams. You can find me in coffee shops working on my business (which runs passively), while researching on Instagram what to make for dinner. And at home (as I really am a home girl), world schooling my children, doing yoga, meditating, being in nature. I created this blog to share everything I have learnt about creating a freedom life. A life of your dreams, through harnessing energy + vibration to create a life where you feel happy, balanced, successful and free. A life you deserve. A life that you love. There is another way. I'm sharing everything that I know.
