2 Ways To Add Chapters or Timestamps to Your YouTube Videos

Follow the below instructions to learn How To add your own video chapters to your YouTube Videos by two ways: Adding your own chapters | Adding automatic video chapters.
How to Add Your Own video chapters to your YouTube Videos:
Sign in to your YouTube Studio
From the left menu, select Content.
Click the video that you'd like to edit.
In the Description, add a list of timestamps and titles.
Make sure that the first timestamp you list starts with 00:00.
Your video should have at least three timestamps listed in ascending order.
The minimum length for video chapters is 10 seconds.
5. Click SAVE.

How to Add automatic video chapters to your YouTube Videos:
Sign in to your YouTube Studio
From the left menu, select Content.
Click the video that you'd like to edit.
Click SHOW MORE and under Automatic Chapters select “Allow automatic chapters and key moments”. By default, this box will be checked for all new uploads. You can also allow automatic video chapters in bulk.
Click SAVE.
It's really important to note here: that not all videos are eligible for automatic chapters, and not all eligible videos will have automatic chapters. If the channel has any active strikes, or if the content may be inappropriate to some viewers, the video chapters feature won't be available.
3 Benefits of Adding Timestamps to Your YouTube Video Content.
Adding timestamps to your videos gives viewers quick access to some important sections of your video, making the viewing experience better for them.
It can also help the bounce off rate, where a viewer has been watching your video and decides to leave. With timestamps, they are able to quickly navigate to the section of your video that gives them the info they were looking for. This can keep a viewer on for longer than they would have done. When a viewer gets what they need from your video, they are more likely to subscribe and like your video as they had a problem, that you solved for them. It's a mutually beneficial transaction!
Having timestamps improves SEO. I am an SEO expert and worked the last few years making sure my ecommerce website got to the top of google and stayed at the top of google (and other search engines) and so I come at this from an SEO perspective. The more that you work on your video SEO, the higher you will appear on search engines for relevant content. Higher up = more views, likes, subscribers. Timestamps help search engines understand your video content and categorize it accordingly.
